About
Our Story
Bev’s was established in 2024 on Bunurong land with a purpose of producing high quality, sustainable coffee that brings community together. What started as serving our specialty coffee from a somewhat make shift idea of a cafe - a coffee machine on the back of a Japanese Kei Truck with a kitchen sink that had to be wheeled in and out of storage each day. From this unique beginnigs, Bev’s found its community. Customers connected with the coffee, the idea, and the values behind it, quickly becoming loyal supporters who believed in what we were building.
Within 9 months of opening, Bev’s was transformed into a much less uncouth idea of a cafe. We were lifted off the ground into a custom built tiny house cafe, which remains our home today and the place where our coffee continues to be served and shared. Now, Bev’s coffee can be found not only at our flagship café, Coffee at Bev’s in Inverloch, but also in cafés across Gippsland and in homes further afield. While the setup has evolved, the purpose remains the same — great coffee, made thoughtfully, and rooted in community.
Our Founder
When Felipe first moved to Australia from Brazil, his first job was as a bartender at a restaurant who also happened to serve coffee in the mornings. This was his first time seeing an espresso machine, and the first time experiencing the Aussie coffee culture, and he fell in love with it. The connections formed through coffee, the daily rituals, the social interactions, and the relationship between coffee drinkers and their baristas. There was something deeply romantic about it, and he knew he had found where he belonged.
This fascination for the coffee culture naturally evolved into a passion for the art of coffee making, but also an immense interest and appreciation for everything that happens to the coffee before it goes into a cup, from the soil, terroir and coffee plants and varietals, to the farmers and workers, their quality of live, or lack of, and the intricacies of coffee roasting. Every step so labour intense and with huge influence on the final product.
After almost ten years working as a barista, Felipe started his journey as a coffee roaster, mentored by some of the most knowledgeable and respected roasters in Australia and the world.
Our Name
Bev’s namesake - Beverley Arnott
Felipe moved to Inverloch and started working at a local cafe, and one of his first customers was Beverley. An Inverloch local and a regular at the cafe, she headed home after our very first interaction and called her granddaughter Ashlenn to say “I found you a boy”. Nan planted the seed and after a couple of years of working her magic, Felipe and Lenny’s relationship blossomed.
So our business is named in her honour. The beautiful coffee drinking cupid that she was. Will forever have gratitude for all that she was and all that she did.
Our Values
At Bev’s, everything we do is guided by three simple values: Planet, People, and Coffee. They shape how we source, how we work, and how we show up in our community.
Planet
Great coffee depends on a healthy planet. That’s why we’re committed to making choices that reduce our impact wherever possible — from responsible sourcing and thoughtful packaging to minimising waste in our day-to-day operations. We know sustainability is an ongoing process, and we’re committed to learning, improving, and doing better over time.
People
Coffee is about people first. The farmers who grow it, the partners who help bring it to life, and the customers who share it every day. We believe in fairness, transparency, and building genuine relationships across the supply chain. Closer to home, we’re driven by community — creating spaces and experiences where people feel welcome and connected.
Coffee
Quality is non-negotiable. We source specialty-grade coffees with care and roast them to highlight what makes each origin unique. From green bean selection to the final cup, our focus is on balance, consistency, and flavour you’ll want to come back to. Because great coffee isn’t just something you drink — it’s something you enjoy and remember.
Sustainability
We believe that enjoying great coffee should never come at the expense of the planet or the people who produce it. Done thoughtfully, coffee can be a force for good — and that belief guides the choices we make every day.
At our cafe in Inverloch, we encourage customers to dine in whenever possible. When takeaway is needed, we don’t offer single-use cups. Instead, we use the Good Cup reusable cup system. A $3 rental is charged, and when the cup is returned to us — or to any cafe using the same system — a full refund is issued. Through this initiative, we diverted over 20,000 disposable cups from landfill in our first year of business.
For our wholesale partners, coffee is delivered in reusable buckets that are swapped and refilled on each visit, reducing unnecessary packaging waste. Our retail coffee bags are also kerbside recyclable, making it easier for customers to dispose of them responsibly.
Beyond our own operations, we’re proud to be part of 1% for the Planet, donating 1% of all sales to environmental organisations each year. In 2025, we chose to support Sea Shepherd, recognising the vital work they do to protect Australia’s marine life and oceans.
Sustainability isn’t a single decision — it’s an ongoing commitment. We’re always looking for better ways to reduce our impact and support the world that makes great coffee possible.
